Kliff Skills Guide
Skill priorities for Kliff after the 2.00.00 skill system changes, keeping progression editorial and excluding unverified named-skill values and unlocks.
Why Kliff skill planning differs
Kliff's skill setup supports a broad weapon range, so the best priorities depend on the weapon you commit to. The global Skills guide and Skill Tree guide cover the system for all characters; this page focuses on Kliff's build priorities.
Skill priorities for Kliff
| Priority | Focus | Why it matters | Weapon synergy |
|---|---|---|---|
| High | Core mobility | Keeps Kliff repositioning and dodging in every fight | Works with any weapon you choose |
| High | Defensive tools | Counters and blocks protect the combo you commit to | Strong with shield-oriented or spacing builds |
| Medium | Main combo skills | Finishes the damage pattern of your one chosen weapon | Directly tied to sword, axe, spear, etc. |
| Lower | Element-charged skills | Adds utility when they support actions you already use | Best after the base combo is solid |
Early skill priorities
The verified early guidance favors movement and defensive skills that matter in every fight, then the main combo path for your chosen weapon instead of spreading skill resources. This keeps early Kliff consistent through quests, exploration and the first harder fights.
Combat and weapon synergy
Build your skill set around the weapon's combo path. Once that is solid, add one or two element-charged skills when they support it. The Best Skills guide explains that the safest recommendation is not a universal tier list but skills that are useful in every fight and affordable to unlock.
Skill and Knowledge in 2.01
Since 2.01.00, the skill menu highlights which skills unlock from specific skill-related knowledge, so use the in-game menu to see current requirements rather than an out-of-date lock table. The Knowledge guide explains the knowledge categories.
Skill system changes in 2.00
Under the 2.00.00 system, Abyss Artifacts are used to learn skills, and spending them grants the other playable characters equal Abyss Links. Skill progress can be reset per character, returning that character's spent Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Links. The once-only full-roster reset happened on first load of 2.00.00 and is not the normal reset behavior. See the Abyss Artifacts guide for the resource flow.
FAQ
Common questions about this topic.
What skills should Kliff prioritize first?
Favor core mobility and defensive tools early, then the main combo skills for the weapon you have committed to. Exact skill names and unlock values are left to the in-game menu.
Does Kliff have new skills in 2.00?
Yes. The official 2.00.00 notes confirm eight new Kliff skills were added, available after a certain point in the main story. Their names, unlock levels and effects are not published here because the official notes do not list them in verifiable detail.
How does skill reset work for Kliff now?
Since 2.00.00 you can reset one character at a time, and the reset returns that character's spent Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Links.
