Crimson Desert Trading Guide

How trading works in current patch 2.01.00, using the 1.16.00 overhaul as its system baseline: posts, goods, wagons, route decisions, cargo transfer and bonds.

Current patch: 2.01.00 (Sep 4, 2026). Trading system baseline: 1.16.00. Patch 1.17 corrected abnormal trade-route display on the map, and 2.00.00 fixed moving trade goods to horse inventory at a stable.

Patch 1.16.00 (Aug 1, 2026) overhauled trading in Crimson Desert: 133 trading posts were added, goods and quantities were adjusted, and Pearl Abyss confirmed that trading posts which are harder to reach by wagon can produce higher profit. This page explains the current system; the Trading Posts page covers locations.

How trading works

Trading in Crimson Desert is about moving goods between trading posts for profit. The core loop is:

  1. Buy or produce goods at a trading post (goods are also obtained from quests and camp production).
  2. Pack goods for transport — packaging turns raw goods into trade-ready bundles.
  3. Move them with a wagon to another post; wagons have weight/capacity limits and travel time.
  4. Sell where the price is higher — farther and harder-to-reach posts generally pay more.
  5. Reinvest profits in better wagons, more goods, or the bond system.

Trading posts after 1.16

The 1.16 update added 133 trading posts across Pywel. Posts vary by region, unlock requirements, access difficulty and the goods they buy or sell. The Trading Posts guide lists the post types and access notes we have verified.

Community posts confirm the profit logic: posts that are harder to reach by wagon — across rough terrain, far from roads, or in high-level regions — tend to offer better prices. The exact route profits change with patch balance and are not published here until re-tested.

Goods and packaging

Patch 1.16 added 24 new high-value trade goods and 4 new regular trade goods. Packaged goods can stack to 10 or 100 depending on price, while unpackaged stacks were also improved. Goods are the items you trade: produce, materials and crafted goods. Packaging is the step that turns raw goods into bundles you can haul, and packaged goods are what trading posts actually buy and sell. Packaging costs materials or time, so profitable trading balances packaging cost against the sale price at the destination.

Wagons and cargo transfer

Wagons are the main way to move goods. Different wagon types have different capacity, speed and handling, and some terrain is hard for wagons. Common community questions involve wagons getting stuck, wagon types (freight vs trading), and how to unlock wagon trading. If a wagon is stuck, switching the route or using the wagon's built-in actions usually resolves it; the game does not silently delete wagons. Since 2.00.00, goods can also move between a wagon and a horse; the stable transfer issue reported before that fix should not be treated as current behavior.

Trade map and filters

Use the in-game Trade tab to review trading posts, royal trading posts, wagon workshops, wagon routes, market prices and goods filters. Patch 1.17 fixed trade routes appearing abnormally on the map; it did not create a permanent route ranking.

Bonds and the bond shop

The 1.16 system lets players claim the Bank Strongbox, invest when they have 10 or more bonds, exchange bonds for 10 Gold Bars, and use the Bond Shop to buy rare items. The update also adjusted maximum interest gain or loss to 40 Gold Bars. These are separate actions; exact rates and odds are not published because they require current in-game verification.

Making money with trading

Trading is currently one of the strongest earners in the game. Practical tips from verified community experience:

  • Start small. The starter wagon and nearby posts are enough to learn the loop before investing in bigger goods.
  • Watch access difficulty. Higher-profit posts are harder to reach; factor travel time and risk into your route choice.
  • Keep packaging costs in mind. A high sale price can be eaten by expensive packaging.
  • Use camp production. Producing goods at your camp cuts purchase costs and widens margins.
  • Check patch notes. Trading balance changes with updates; the Updates hub tracks them.

Specific route-by-route profit numbers and exact bond rates are not published yet — they require current-version testing and change with patch balance. What is listed here is verified against official patch notes and consistent community reports.

FAQ

FAQ

Common questions about this topic.

How does trading work in Crimson Desert?

You buy or produce goods, pack them into bundles, move them by wagon to another trading post, and sell where prices are higher. Patch 1.16.00 added 133 trading posts and confirmed that harder-to-reach posts pay more.

Is trading worth it in Crimson Desert?

Yes — trading is one of the strongest earners since patch 1.16.00. Profit depends on route, packaging cost and access difficulty; high-profit posts are harder to reach.

How do I sell trade goods?

Bring packed goods to a trading post in a wagon and sell them at the post counter. Each post buys and sells different goods; the Trading Posts page lists verified locations.

What are bonds in Crimson Desert?

Bonds are a trading/currency system with a bond shop where you can buy and sell. Players use them to invest trading profits. Exact rates change with the in-game economy and are not published here.

What is the best trading route in Crimson Desert?

We do not publish a 'best route' ranking because profits require current-version testing and change with patches. The current verified rule: harder-to-reach posts pay more, so compare access difficulty, packaging cost and distance.

Do I need a wagon to trade?

Yes, wagons are the main transport for trade goods. Different wagons have different capacity and speed. See the Trading Posts and Updates pages for current details.
