Crimson Desert Quests
Quest help for Crimson Desert: main, faction and side quests, what order to do them, and what to do when a quest will not progress.
Crimson Desert's quests range from the main story to faction requests, investigation and research quests, daily-life quests and constellation activities. This hub organizes quest help; the Quest Knowledge page covers the 1.18 knowledge system.

Main quest order
The main quest advances in chapters. Players frequently ask about order and about whether to do main or faction quests first — the community consensus is that a mix works best, and that progressing the main story unlocks movement, companions and systems that make side content easier.
Stuck on a quest?
- Check quest markers. The map and quest log show where the objective is.
- Look for knowledge requirements. Since 1.18, some quests interact with the knowledge system.
- Reload or travel. If a marker does not update, leaving the area and returning often fixes it.
- Check hotfixes. 1.18.01/1.18.02 fixed quest and save bugs reported after 1.18.00.
Faction quests
Faction quests — especially Greymane requests — grant gear, knowledge and money. Players ask for faction quest lists and where to find quests outside the main line; the answer is usually faction camps and named NPCs across Pywel.
Quest Knowledge connection
Patch 1.18.00 added the Quest Knowledge system with eight categories: Main, Faction, Investigation, Research, Daily Life, Guide, Archive Records and Constellations. Knowledge entries are tracked per category from the knowledge interface.
FAQ
Common questions about this topic.
How do I find quests outside the main questline?
Faction camps, named NPCs and side-content markers across Pywel offer quests beyond the main line. Faction quests (Greymane requests) are a reliable source; the community recommends mixing main and faction quests.
Should I do main quests or faction quests first?
A mix works best. Progressing the main story unlocks movement, companions and systems that make faction and side quests easier, but faction quests grant useful early gear and knowledge.
Why is my quest not showing up?
Check your quest log and map filters. If a marker does not update, leave the area and return, then check the current Updates hub. Historically, 1.18.01/1.18.02 fixed quest bugs after 1.18.00.
How long is the main story?
Official playtime estimates have not been published. Community reports vary widely depending on how much side content, trading and Abyss content you do.
What is the difference between quests and Quest Knowledge?
Quests are the objectives you complete; Quest Knowledge (added in 1.18) is the system that records knowledge gained from quests under eight categories. See the Quest Knowledge page.
