Quest Knowledge · Patch 1.18

Crimson Desert Quest Knowledge

The Quest Knowledge system added in patch 1.18.00: what it is, the eight official categories, and where walkthroughs end and knowledge entries begin.

Patch 1.18.00 (Aug 15, 2026) added the Quest Knowledge category to Crimson Desert, organizing quest-related knowledge into eight official categories. Hotfixes 1.18.01 and 1.18.02 followed on Aug 16. This page explains the system and each category.

What is Quest Knowledge?

Quest Knowledge is the game's system for tracking knowledge you gain through quests. When a quest grants knowledge, it is recorded under one of eight categories and can be viewed from the knowledge interface. Players frequently ask how knowledge works, how to gain more, and why some knowledge entries appear missing — this page explains the official structure.

The eight official categories (1.18)

CategoryWhat it covers
Main QuestsKnowledge granted by main story quests
Faction QuestsKnowledge from faction quest lines (e.g. Greymane requests)
Investigation QuestsKnowledge from investigation-style quests
Research QuestsKnowledge from research-type quests
Daily Life QuestsKnowledge from daily-life and routine quests
GuideGuidance-style knowledge entries
Archive RecordsRecord/archive style knowledge entries
ConstellationsKnowledge tied to constellations

Knowledge vs walkthroughs

There are two kinds of content here, and they answer different questions:

  • Quest walkthroughs — step-by-step instructions to complete a quest (in the Quests hub).
  • Knowledge entries — what knowledge a quest grants and where it is recorded (this system).

If a quest is not granting a knowledge entry you expected, check which category it belongs to and whether the entry is acquired from a different source — the community has reported confusion around missing knowledge entries after 1.18.

Knowledge quests players ask about

Several knowledge-focused quests are frequently searched, including The Weight of Knowledge, Contradiction and Forbidden Knowledge. These involve question-and-answer mechanics. Walkthroughs for these quests are published in the Quests hub; answer lists are verified against the current version before being added.

Changes in 1.18

1.18.00 introduced the category structure; 1.18.01/1.18.02 fixed bugs reported after launch. The Updates hub tracks what changed. If official patch notes announce a retroactive grant of knowledge, we note it on the affected pages.

FAQ

FAQ

Common questions about this topic.

How does knowledge work in Crimson Desert?

Quest Knowledge (added in patch 1.18.00) records knowledge gained through quests under eight official categories: Main, Faction, Investigation, Research, Daily Life, Guide, Archive Records and Constellations. You can view your entries from the knowledge interface.

How do I gain more knowledge?

Knowledge is gained by completing quests in each category, and by interacting with the world — faction quests, investigation and research quests, daily-life quests and constellation activities all grant knowledge.

Why is my quest knowledge entry missing?

After 1.18, some players reported missing or not-completing knowledge entries. First check which category the entry belongs to; hotfixes 1.18.01/1.18.02 addressed several quest and knowledge bugs.

What are the answers in The Weight of Knowledge?

Answer lists for The Weight of Knowledge, Contradiction and Forbidden Knowledge are verified against the current version and published with the quest guides in the Quests hub. We do not publish unverified answers.

Is Quest Knowledge different from quest walkthroughs?

Yes. Walkthroughs tell you how to complete a quest; knowledge entries record what knowledge the quest grants. Both are covered separately on this site.
