What is Crimson Desert?
Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure developed and published by Pearl Abyss, set on the continent of Pywel. You play as Kliff, leader of the Greymane faction, who sets out to reunite his scattered companions and rebuild his faction after a surprise attack by the Black Bears. Along the way you can switch to two other playable characters — Oongka and Damiane — each with their own combat style and weapons.
The game released on March 19, 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Mac at $69.99. It is a single-player experience: you explore vast wilderness, cities, ruins and the mysterious Abyss, fight with a deep combo-based combat system, and progress through quests, trading, skills and gear.
This site is patch-aware: Pearl Abyss has shipped frequent updates since launch, and several systems we cover have changed substantially. Patch 2.02.00 (Sep 11, 2026) is the current update. Its official notes focus on Mac cross-save, bug fixes, stability and localization; no major skill-system overhaul is listed. Patch 2.01.00 added the skill-menu highlight for skills unlocked by specific skill-related knowledge. 2.00.00 Crimson Desert Enhanced (Aug 25, 2026) added eight new Kliff skills and introduced the Abyss Link skill system.
