Crimson Desert Skill Tree Guide

How Crimson Desert skill progression works after 2.00.00: Abyss Artifacts, Abyss Links, unlock requirements, resets and weapon planning.

Based on patch 2.01.00 (Sep 4, 2026). Use the in-game menu for named-skill values and exact unlock conditions.

How the skill system works

Crimson Desert organizes combat abilities through a skill menu and progression structure. Since 2.00.00, Abyss Artifacts are used to learn skills; the other playable characters receive an equal number of Abyss Links when those Artifacts are spent.

How to unlock skills

  • Use Abyss Artifacts in the skill interface to learn skills for the selected character.
  • Track Abyss Links on the other playable characters; they receive the same amount when Artifacts are spent.
  • Check the current requirement in the skill menu. Patch 2.01.00 highlights skills unlocked by specific skill-related knowledge.
  • Plan around your weapon because weapon-supported skills usually give better early value than spreading points everywhere.

Skill progression

Reliable progression starts narrow. Choose a weapon plan, buy the movement and defensive tools you will use in every fight, then build the main combo path for that weapon. Late spreading makes more sense after your core tools are already covered.

Skill categories

Current site coverage groups skills by combat purpose rather than unverified node names: melee combos, ranged abilities, counters, grabs, movement and element-charged skills.

Combat skills

Combat skills are the abilities that define fighting: combo extensions, defensive responses, movement options, grabs, counters and ranged tools. Exact damage numbers and skill names are not listed unless verified against the current version.

Passive and utility systems

Passive or utility-style benefits may exist inside the broader progression system, but this page does not publish a separate passive tree or node list without verified names and requirements.

Abyss Artifacts and skill progression

Patch 2.00.00 confirms that Abyss Artifacts are spent to learn skills. Doing so grants the other playable characters the same number of Abyss Links. Exact Artifact acquisition quantities and named-skill costs are not stated here; see Abyss Artifacts for the verified boundary.

Watch and Learn

A distinct Watch and Learn system is not yet verified in the current site source, so this guide does not describe unlock steps, NPCs or rewards for it.

Can you respec?

Since 2.00.00, reset one character's skill progress at a time. The reset returns that character's spent Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Links. The one-time first load of 2.00.00 reset every character and returned spent resources; that migration event is not the normal reset rule.

Skill planning tips

  1. Pick the weapon first, then choose skills that support it.
  2. Prioritize movement and defense because they matter across bosses and exploration.
  3. Avoid thin early investment across many branches.
  4. Use Best Skills for prioritization and Builds for full loadout planning.
  5. For Kliff specifically, start from the Kliff guide before committing points.
