Kliff Build

Kliff Build Progression

One progression page for Kliff from early to late game, kept editorial and split into stages only as signals justify it.

Based on patch 2.01.00 (Sep 4, 2026). Stage recommendations are editorial; named gear and exact upgrade numbers are excluded without verification.

Progression overview

The build progresses in stages rather than a single end-game answer: lock a weapon and its combo early, add defensive reliability, then layer Abyss Gear as it becomes available. The parent Kliff Build guide outlines the full framework.

What to upgrade first

Invest first in the mobility and defensive tools that matter in every fight, then the main combo path for your chosen weapon, then a small number of element-charged skills. Upgrade the gear you actually use rather than spreading upgrades across every item.

Early-game build

Keep early Kliff simple: one main weapon, core survival, and a small number of damage tools. The goal is consistency through quests, exploration and the first harder fights, not a finished end-game setup.

Mid-game build

By mid game, commit to the main combo of a single weapon and start aligning Abyss Gear effects with the weapon and skill plan. Avoid spreading skill resources or upgrading many weapon types at once.

Late-game considerations

A complete late-game Kliff build depends on verified Abyss Gear effects, upgrade state and patch balance; those details are not complete enough in the current source to publish a fixed end-game best build. Use the Kliff Abyss Gear guide for setup direction.

When to replace weapons

Replace weapons as you find or craft a same-direction weapon that clearly advances your combo or upgrade plan, consistent with the weapon progression path (find or craft, upgrade, special effects, storage). See the Weapons guide.

Skill progression and resets

Use the current skill menu to confirm requirements; since 2.01.00 it highlights skills unlocked by specific skill-related knowledge. Since 2.00.00, skill progress resets are per character and return that character's spent Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Links, so you can freely adjust Kliff without touching other characters. Use Abyss Artifacts on Kliff; the other playable characters receive equal Abyss Links.

FAQ

FAQ

Common questions about this topic.

What should I upgrade first on Kliff?

Prioritize movement and defensive skills, then the main combo path of your chosen weapon, then Abyss Gear that supports that plan. Upgrade the gear you actually use.

How do I level Kliff out of the early game?

Lock one weapon direction and its combo early, add defensive reliability, then layer Abyss Gear as it becomes available. Don't spread early resources.

Can I reset Kliff's skills without affecting other characters?

Yes. Since 2.00.00 skill resets are per character, and resetting returns Kliff's spent Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Links.
